“What is WIMP?” you ask. Well, it’s kinda like LAMP only instead of Linux and Apache it’s Windows and IIS. The rest is the same.

So, I was planning on writing a .Net-based blogging system in C#, since that’s my current development environment of choice. But as always, time is the killer, and I thought it prudent to get something up here instead of waiting for a spare few hundred hours to come along and present themselves.

I shopped around on opensourceCMS.com, and asked the advice of others on the SystemShock.co.za forums, and decided to use WordPress. Download a 600-odd kB file, unzip, update database logins, FTP to server, et voila. One by blog. I must say that so far I’m very impressed.

I’ll be using it to post some development thoughts, rant-y and rave-y type thoughts, and other more general thoughts. I might even post when I’m drunk, which should be quite fun. My wife will use it to post some physics thoughts and some more general thoughts too (probably about our pets). My mother-in-law will regale you with tales of what she calls renovations (I call it one of the most destructive forces on the planet, but it usually turns out okay).

Anyway, I’m off to find some themes now to see if we can get this thing looking half decent.
